How did DAMN TRUE begin?
The "Damn True Festival" is a collaborative platform created by the "Frontline Fellowship" and the Chinese-speaking non-fiction writing community. Over three days and two nights, it features lectures, in-person dialogues, workshops, markets, and music, connecting non-fiction works from the Chinese-speaking world with their audience. The event unites Chinese-speaking non-fiction creators from diverse regions, fostering connection and engagement, and celebrates the vibrant sparks generated by the interplay of true stories and various art forms. The inaugural Damn True Festival took place in Tokyo in 2025. This December, DTF 2026 returns to Tokyo for another annual gathering of Chinese-language nonfiction creators.
